HEY!
I'M EMMA.
I'm a photographer from Portland, Oregon and recently got my degree in Professional Photography and Art History at Penn State.
Growing up in Portland, Oregon, running around the Portland Art Museum, and perusing galleries on First Thursdays definitely influenced my desire to pursue a career in art. I attended Arts and Communication Magnet Academy, a public option school, from 6th to 12th grade. At ACMA, I took a wide variety of classes on top of academics, including dance, animation, darkroom photography, theatre, and ceramics. I was the Yearbook Photography Editor for 3 years and graduated high school with a photography pathway in 2019.
I began taking photos when I was about 12 years old, but setting up my toys and taking photos with an old family camera was one of my favorite activities as a kid. Taking photos of my best friends growing up and experimenting with light and composition gave me the foundation I have with my photography now.
In high school, I found a lot of joy in taking senior photos, photographing events for the yearbook, staying after school finishing class assignments in the darkroom, and doing creative photoshoots with friends on the weekends. This rhythm, completing projects for work, school, and fun has been a cycle that has followed me into college.
